Atlanta has produced rock and pop music singers, such as The Black Crowes, The Changelings, alternative metal band Sevendust, sludge metal band Mastodon, ska/punk band Treephort, Maserati, post-rock band Light Pupil Dilate, dream-pop band Seely, rock bands Uncle Green (a.k.a 3 Lb. Thrill), Injected, City Sleeps, Collective Soul and Third Day, the folk-pop Indigo Girls, amd Butch Walker to name a few.
On the hiphop side, to some people Atlanta is known as the "New Motown" Atlanta is also home to multi-platinum rappers Ludacris and T.I., as well as Lloyd Polite, Young Jeezy, Gorilla Zoe, Big Boi, Andre 3000, Dolla, Young Dro, Pastor Troy, Crime Mob, Lil Scrappy, Ying Yang Twins, Lil Jon, Dem Franchise Boys, D4L, Yung Joc, Nivea, Usher Raymond, Monica, Jermaine Dupri, Ciara, Cee-lo Green, and Keri Hilson.
Country music superstars such as Alan Jackson, Trisha Yearwood, and Travis Tritt are natives of Georgia. Other successful country music acts from Georgia include Billy Currington, Cyndi Thomson, Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, Daryle Singletary, Doug Stone, John Berry, Rhett Akins, Mark Wills and up and coming stars Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan.
Atlanta is also a well known place for producers and artists trying to get into the music business.
